Volume Two of the Canadian Historical Medal Series was released in Ottawa at the Canadian Numismatic Association Convention which was held July 17th to 20th, 2008.
Canadian Association Society Commercial Transportation Medals is a 720-page, 8 ˝” x 11”, hard bound book published in a limited edition of 250 copies.
Volume Two is organized simply: It is divided into three sections according to the nature of the issuer — Associations and Societies, Commercial, and Transportation. Within each section, medals are listed alphabetically by issuer. In the Associations and Societies section, for example, the listings begin with “A.A.C. of W. and end with “Young Men’s Hebrew Association”. The sections on commercial and transportation medals use the same style of listing, alphabetical by issuing company, or method of transportation. The subdivisions are slightly more complicated but they also run alphabetically by area in national organization and within the area by city or town.
The listing for each medal includes: The Title, the Medal Number, the Obverse Description, the Reverse Description, the Suspension (if appropriate), the Case of Issue (if known), the Engraver/Maker; Reference Numbers, Composition, Weight, Diameter, Thickness, Die Axis, and last but not least the Price in two grades (Very Fine and Extremely Fine).
The Canadian Historical Medals Series, a three volume set when completed, consists of the following:
Volume One: Canadian Exhibition Fair Carnival Medals (Published)
Volume Two: Canadian Association Society Commercial Transportation Medals (Published)
Volume Three: Canadian Scholastic Medals (2010)
